Day 1:
Arrive Washington, D.C.
Experience for yourself the intermingling of tradition and trend in
government as you witness the many historical memorials and monuments of
Washington. Your host for the next three nights is the impressive
Doubletree Hotel. A special welcome dinner is included this evening
at your hotel. (D)
Day 2:
Washington, D.C.
Enjoy breakfast this morning before departing on a day of sightseeing
and commentary by a local professional guide. Your tour includes a visit
to the White House Visitor Center and Arlington National Cemetery where
you'll view the Kennedy gravesites and the Tomb of the Unknowns. Next
you'll visit the Vietnam Veterans, Korean War, FDR and World War II
Memorials. Later drive by Embassy Row, view the Kennedy Center and the
National Cathedral. The rest of your evening is free to explore the city
on your own. (B)
Day 3:
Washington, D.C.
After breakfast, prepare yourself for yet another fascinating day of
sightseeing in this capital city. First on the agenda is a visit to
Mount Vernon, the plantation home of George Washington. Next, a brief
visit will be made to the Holocaust Museum. Your journey will continue
this afternoon to the world's greatest museum, the Smithsonian
Institute. Comprising several spacious buildings, the Institute contains
moon rock, the first airplane, the Hope Diamond and more. This evening,
dinner is included at a popular restaurant, followed by an awe-inspiring
twilight tour of Washington's most famous sights, as well as a chance to
visit the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials. (B, D)*
Day 4:
Depart for Home
Gather your Washington memories this morning as you enjoy breakfast
before departing for home. It is hoped that your historical adventure
will permit you to assume a more knowledgeable role in the future
decision-making process of our nation. (B)
